THE HOSPITAL INFORMATION SYSTEM BIS 2010 is the most complex one, from the system family BIS 2000. It enables transfer of the light, tone, speech, audio and video information.

This system includes:
- speech “patient/sister” communication
- “sister/sister” and “sister/doctor on duty” tone/light communication
- paging graphic display on the monitor
- video surveillance
- priority and page diverting
- listening to the musical and educational programs
- patient data processing

At the BIS 2010 systems one can distinguishes four types of calls (pages) and one information on the personnel circulation in the hospital utility.

COMMON CALL is activated by the “sister-call” push button depressing, on the hand-set. The control panel (CP) announces this with tone and light information, also the monitor of CUP displays an graphic sign. The sister can establish an speech conversation with patient by means of CUP, to observe the patient on the monitor, and to reset this call (page).

URGENT CALL is activated by depressing the pull-SOS switch, mounted in the toilet/bathroom or using the hand-set paging sister push-button. So, one can distinguish two types of urgent calls:
- urgent call from the toilet/bathroom, recognized as URGENT SOS call
- urgent call originated from the common call. The main sister (nurse) can temporarily change priority of the call. This call is then recognized as URGENT SOFTWARE CALL. The urgent call can be distinguished from the common call according to the light, tone and graphic presentation. This type of call can be reset in originating room only.

SISTER CALL is intended for the “sister-sister” communication. It is activated by depressing the appropriate button on the room terminal (ST). This call is displayed on the CUP, and transferred to the one or more parallel sister panels (PP).

DOCTOR CALL is used by sisters to call the doctor on duty or some other doctor. This call is activated with appropriate push-button on the ST, and this call is followed with appropriate light and tone signalization on the parallel doctor panel (PP).

SISTER PRESENCE facility shows in which room is one sister located at this moment. The sister announces herself by depressing corresponding push-button on the ST, and automatically diverts all calls.
Except of the calls handling, the BIS 2010 system enables some patient data processing, like as: receiving, dismissal, evidence etc.

The optional facility of this system is listening to the musical and educational programs.
The main system elements are: central control panel(CUP), room terminal (ST), bed panel (KP), connecting terminals (PT), hand-set(RS), room signal lamp (SSL), SOS push-button (SOS), paging set (PK), central panel (CP), parallel panel (PP), supply unit (NJ), CCD camera.

CENTRAL CONTROL PANEL (CUP 2011)

This panel is composed of personal computer with corresponding software with interface and speech unit with supply. Central panel (CP) and the printer also can be considered as the CUP elements.
CUP enables:
- calls manipulation
- video surveillance
- data processing
The PC monitor displays calls according to the priority and timing. Also, calls are presented on the central panel (CP). Calls are also distinguished with help of appropriate tones.

The urgent calls can be reset by the nurse in the originating room after the intervention. The common calls can be reset by the sister after speech communication with the patient, without physical intervention.

Video surveillance is an option in the BIS 2010 system. It enables an patient video image on the PC monitor (upper right corner), during the speech communication “patient-sister”. Using the mouse, sister can enlarge the image on the screen, and memorize it. Independently from the call, sister can choose any room at random, and get corresponding image to survey situation in this room.

Data processing involves:
+ The patient receiving
- opening of the patient file
- graphical distribution in the “empty” bed
- scheduling of the examination, checking etc.

+The patient survey
- successive patient data logging
- data preparing for the patient dismissal

+The patient evidence
- evidence of currently laying patients
- evidence of all cured patients in this unit

+The patient dismissal
- preparing of the discharge papers
- printing of the discharge papers
- graphical clearing of the dismissed patient bed

+ Call protocol

The speech conversation between the patient and the sister is established over the SPEECH UNIT which is part of the CUP. This unit has two volume push-buttons on the front side, connecting call push-button and an load-speaker, goose-neck microphone and connector on the rear side. Speech unit is supplied with corresponding supply unit.
